Patient Moments is a decision making framework that allows staff to make a wide range of improvements to most aspects of service delivery. It enables management and staff to quickly and confidently address issues such as:

  • Efficiency and effectiveness
  • Staff morale and wellbeing
  • Organisational culture


Patient Moments encourages staff to look at themselves and their surroundings through their patients’ eyes, allowing them to develop a practical understanding of their patients’ experience and:

  • Evaluate and identify issues and problems
  • Decide what changes they can make to improve delivery of care
  • Develop agreement and commitment to implement these changes
  • Assess the value and impact of the changes
  • Share stories and learning with the wider system


As confidence grows, what begins as a local exercise stimulates wider change, promoting openness and generating a culture of responsibility, cooperative problem solving and service improvement.
